Before the Redesign
For years, students relied on WhatsApp groups to receive job postings and updates. Each new role came with its own group, leading to:
Dozens of groups for different job roles.
Confusing notification floods.
Missed deadlines due to scattered communication.
No central space to track applied jobs or updates.
This system worked at scale for the college, but it left students feeling anxious, lost, and dependent on peers or faculty to keep up.
Why It Mattered
Students were earlier applying for jobs through multiple WhatsApp groups, which caused confusion, missed updates, and extra stress.
To solve this, we redesigned the ECAP portal to bring everything into one place - jobs, applications, and community—so students can stay organized, confident, and focused on their career growth.
Project Overview
The goal was simple yet impactful:
Centralize job applications into the ECAP portal.
Introduce a student community space for collaboration and official communication.
Empower recruiters and faculty with an easy way to post jobs, shortlist students, and share updates.
The Core Problem
Students were losing confidence and clarity because the system to apply for jobs was:
Unorganized – multiple WhatsApp groups per role.
Unreliable – no clear tracking of applied jobs.
Exhausting – important information buried under irrelevant messages.
Our Solution
We transformed ECAP into a career and community hub by adding:
Job Portal : Students can explore opportunities, apply directly, and track application status.
Community Space : A structured space for placement prep, job discussions, and official updates.
Faculty & Recruiter : Simplified job posting and student tracking system.
Emotional Shift
Before → Students felt anxious, confused, and overloaded with notifications. They constantly worried about missing updates.
Now → Students feel confident, in control, and reassured. Everything they need for career growth is centralized in one familiar portal.
Potential Impact
Reduced Chaos → Eliminates dozens of scattered WhatsApp groups.
Higher Transparency → Students track every application and deadline in real time.
for Faculty → Recruiters and faculty save time managing applications.
Future Updates
In future it could include features like AI-based job recommendations, resume builder with templates, mock interview practice, direct recruiter–student chat, and event calendars for placement drives, making the portal more personalized and career-focused.
What I Learned
This case study taught me the importance of simplifying scattered processes into one structured system. I learned how clarity, transparency, and community-driven design can reduce student stress and improve engagement. It also showed me the value of designing not just for functionality but for confidence and trust in the overall experience.
